Chakkuli

Chakkuli  -  Shobha Hegde

Recipe:

maida 2 cups, roasted urad dal flour ( hurnu) 1 cup, 1 tbsp butter at room temp, jeera 1 tsp, ajwain 1/2 tsp( optional) . First dry roast the urad dal & after it cools blend to a fine powder. Take the maida in a white towel. Wrap it into a pouch and steam it for 15-18 minutes. Once the maida cools down try to see there r no lumps. Now mix maida, urad dal powder, butter, jeera , ajwain , salt and add enough water to make a dough. Dough should not be too hard or else chakkulis will break. Put a small ball into the chakkuli mould and shape them and deep fry till golden brown
