Menasina Saaru

Menasina Saaru - Nisha Baliga Shenoy

Ingredients:

4 cups water
2 Big pods of Garlic crushed with skin
1 tsp crushed pepper corns
1 tsp roasted cumin seeds crushed by mortar and pestle
2 sprigs of curry leaves
big lemon size tamarind ( pulp)
salt to taste
1 tsp ghee

Method
In a thick bottom vessel heat ghee, add the curry leaves and garlic. fry for a minute.
Then add water and tamarind pulp . Bring it to a boil.
Add the crushed pepper and cumin seeds .
Let it boil well. sim the flame .
Make the 4 glasses of water to almost 3 glasses.
Add salt to taste. U can adjust spices acc.
turn off flame and serve hot.
This helps in sour throat and cold during winter season.
While sipping the Saaru the garlic is supposed to be eaten.
