Kadi Patta Chicken

Kadi Patta Chicken - Rama Kini‎
1kg chicken cut int medium pieces....marinate with 2 tsps ginger garlic paste, juice of 1 lime, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. Roast spices in this order....3 cloves, 1inch piece cinnamon, 1/2 tsp pepper corns, 2tsps coriander seeds, 2 green elaichis, 1/2 tsp saunf and 1/2 tsp jeera. Next roast a tsp of finely chopped copra and then 1tsp of khus khus. Roast around8 to 10 byadagi red chillies. Fry 2 sliced onions till well browned and grind together roasted spices, copra, poppy seeds, red chillies and roasted onions along with a small piece of tamarind. In a large kadai. Heat 2 tbsps ghee/oil and roast the marinated chicken pieces. In a another pan heat a tsp of oil and a few leaves of curry leaves. Then add the ground paste and stir for sometime. Add this masala to the chicken along with salt and stir well. Close the pan with a lid and simmer till chicken is cooked. You may add a little water if required. Take of the flame when it is dry. In a pan heat a little oil. Make a tadka by roasting cashew nut pieces and add a lot of curry leaves. Add to the chicken.
