Gulla Sagle - Nisha Baliga Shenoy
Ingredients:
1/2 kg Gulla ( a type of Brinjal )
1/4 kg Potatoes
2 cups grated coconut
8 to 9 roasted red chillies
1/4 tsp meeti seeds
1 sprig curry leaves
2 tsp coriander leaves
3 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp mustard
cherry size tamarind
1/4 tsp haldi pd
salt to taste.
METHOD.
Wash and chop the veggies into cubes .
Cook the potatoes separately till almost done .
Grind together coconut, haldi pd, tamarind, red chillies to a coarse semi dry masala.
Half way grinding add coriander- meeti seeds fried in oil and run the mixie for a sec.
In a pan , Heat oil, add mustard seeds when splutter, add curry leaves, add the cubed Brinjals.
Stir well. Add the ground masala and cook till almost done.
Then add the almost cooked potatoes.
Stir all veggies well. add salt to taste.
Bring this curry to a boil. ( U can add little water )
Add a piece of jaggery for taste. ( optional )
This recipie can be used to prepare with Drumsticks and brinjal combo,Ladys finger, and Ivy gourd.
