Prawn Pulao

Prawn Pulao - Shruthi Pai‎
Ingredients
500gms prawns - peeled and de-veined
1.5 cups basmati rice
1 large onion sliced
2 tbsp oil/ghee
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
few coriander leaves for garnish
salt

masala to ground finely-
1/2 bunch coriander leaves
10-12 mint leaves
1 inch cinnamon stick
10-12 peppercorn
5-6 cloves
3-4 hot green chillies
2 black cardamom
2 tsp coriander seed
1 tsp cumin seed
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste

marinate prawns with salt and lemon juice and keep aside.
Grind all ingredients for masala into a fine paste using very little water.
In a pressure cooker, heat oil. Add onion and saute till it turns golden brown. Add the ground masala and saute till it loses its moisture. add prawns and stir for about 2 minutes.Add rice and turmeric and salt to taste. Mix well, taking care not to break the grain. Add 2 3/4 cups of water , cover and cook on medium till pressure is full then low for 10 min till rice is cooked.
