Kadgi Biryani

Kadgi Biryani-Nandini Kini

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups basmati rice
1/2 cup chopped kadgi/raw jackfruit pieces
2 sliced onions+1 onion to deep fry for garnishing
2 green chillies
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp biryani masala powder
1/4 cup curd
Salt to taste
6 tsp oil or ghee
1 bay leaf
2 lavang(clove)
1/2 inch piece of cinnamon(dalchini)
Cook jackfruit pieces in cooker for 1 whistle and drain all the water
Marinate it with salt to taste,1/2 tsp chilli powder,1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste,2 tsp corn flour ,keep it for 1/2 an hour and then deep fry it and keep aside.

PROCEDURE:

In cooker take oil or ghee,add whole garam masalas
Add sliced onion and fry till it becomes translucent
Add slit green chillies,masala powders,and curd saute for 3 minutes
Add washed rice,salt to taste and fry for 5 inutes
Put the deep fried jackfruit pieces and mix well
Add3 1/2 cups of water and close the lid
After 2 whistles switch off the gas
After steam releases open d lid and garnish with deep fried onions na chopped coriander leaves
serve hot with any raita
