Crab Masala

Crab Masala - Laxmi Bhandary
Ingredients: 
5 large crabs, 10 red chillies, 1 inch ginger, 10 garlic cloves,onions 2, 1 cup coconut, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp coriander seeds,1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp fennel seeds, 1 inch cinnamon, 2 tomatoes diced, a few curry leaves, oil and salt to taste.

Method: 
Clean the crab and cut in to pieces. Remove the top shell. Grind the above ingredients (red chillies, ginger, garlic, onions, coconut gratings, cumin, pepper, coriander seeds, fennel, cinnamon) to make a coarse paste. Heat oil in a pan, add tomatoes and fry for 2 - 3 minutes. Add crabs. Then add ground masala paste and saute for another 5 minutes. Add half cup of water and salt. Cover and cook on medium heat for about 15 - 20 minutes. Uncover, increase the heat to high and fry till most of the water evaporated to form a thick gravy. Serve it with rice.
