Sambar(kolmbo)

Sambar(kolmbo)  -  Laxmi Bhandary

Ingredients: 
1/2 Pav thur dal, 2tbsps bengal gram dal, 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds, 2 tsps coriander seeds, half tsp cumin seeds,half tsp turmeric powder,1 small piece asafoetida (hing), 6 red chillies, few curry leaves, tamarind (marble szie), 2 tbsps oil, coriander leaves,vegetable pieces, and salt to taste.


Method: 
Wash thur dal,& pressure cook till soft. Take a little oil in frying pan, roast fenugreek, cumin, coriander, hing, bengal gram, red chillies and few curry leaves, till brown. Grind all the roasted ingredients with tamarind to a smooth paste. To the cooked thur dal, add vegetable pieces and cook till tender. Then add salt and ground masala and 1 cup water. Boil. When done, remove from flame. Season it with mustard seeds and curry leaves in oil. Garnish with coriander leaves.
