Instant Upma With Bread - Sunayana Gupta
INGREDIENTS
Bread slices – 4
Yogurt – ½ cup
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Onion (Chopped) – ½ cup
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Asafetida (Hing) – ½ tsp
Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
Lemon juice – 2 -4 tsp
Oil – 4 tsp
Sugar – ½ tsp (Optional)
Salt – 1 ½ tsp or to taste
Farsaan/Sev/Roasted peanuts – for garnish
Method:
1.Roughly cut bread slices . (Its better if you do this with hand instead of knife.)
2.In a bowl take yogurt and give it a quick stir. Mix in bread slices and cover it with a lid/plate….keep aside for 5 minutes so that the bread can absorb all the moisture of yogurt .
3.Meanwhile , heat oil in a non-stick pan and add mustard seeds . When they begin to cracle add onions and sauté till pink .
4.Add asafetida , turmeric pd. , red chilly pd. and give a quick stir. Now add soaked bread (Step 2) and cook for about 2 minutes .
5.Add salt and lemon juice .
Instant Upma with bread is ready . Garnish with some fresh coriander, farsaan/sev and roasted peanuts . Serve hot .
