Sabudana Kichadi - Rajashree Acharya Kamat
Recipe:
The process is --- If u want to make Khichdi for the morning breakfast, take the reqd. qty. of sabudana & wash it under running water 2-3 times. Soak the sabudana in a wide mouthed container with some water above the sabudana for half an hour.U may do this during ur dinner. After 30 min., most of the water will be absorbed. Stir it with a spoon & if totally dry,sprinkle abt. 1 tblsp water & mix properly. Cover it with a lid & leave it over the counter overnight.( If u want to make Khichdi for the eve. breakfast, follow the same process,but start at at about 8 AM.) In the morning, the sabudana willbe nicely puffed up & u can start with making the khichdi. Here, I've just heated ghee,added cumin seeds, upon spluttering,add the soaked sabudana, groundnut powder (3/4th the amt of sabudana soaked),2tsp.chilly powder,salt to taste, mix properly,cover the pan & let it cook on sim for 5 min. Garnish with coriander leaves & ready to serve with a lemon wedge. If u want to add boiled potato pieces, add them after adding the chilly powder,mix properly & then add the sabudana. U can also add green chillies to the tempering, instead of red chilly powder.
