Batatyachae Rassa

Batatyachae Rassa - Nutan Shenoy-Kini
Ingredients :-
6 – 8 potatoes ( boiled & cubed ).
Tomatoes – 3 – 4 ( cubed ).
Coconut – 1 ( grated ).
Green chillies – 10.
Curry leaves – 20.
Cumin seeds – 2 tsp.
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp.
Red whole chillies – 5.
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp.
Salt to taste.
Oil – 2 tbsp. ( for seasoning).


Method :-
1. Grind to a paste with water, the coconut, curry leaves (10) & green chilles.
2. Pour the ground masala in a heavy bottomed vessel.
3. When the masala boils, add potatoes and tomatoes. Let boil.
4. Add salt & turmeric powder. Boil.
5. Heat oil in a pan, add remaining curry-leaves & Red Whole Chillies.
6. When the curry leaves, turn crisp, add mustard – cumin seeds.
7. When they splutter, pour over the potatoes – rassa & put off the flame.
8. Tastes awsome with rotis/ dal-rice/ jeera rice.
